CHERRY COLA CHROME
CHROME, CHROME, CHROME
The chrome craze continues, over 2 years on from when the OG Hailey Bieber "Glazed Donut" chrome nails trend began. The trends have chopped and changed. Chrome nails have evolved from a nude base with a pearly white chrome on top, to isolated chrome 3D designs.
Recently, dark autumnal shades with a white shiny chrome on top have been trending. They are the ideal AUTUMN/WINTER nail for 2024. Today I am going to give you a quick step by step on how to achieve the "CHERRY COLA CHROME" look.
PRODUCTS NEEDED:
- 'Decadent' gel polish
- 'Burnt Heather' gel polish (both from The Manicure Company)
- Non wipe top coat
- Base coat
- White shiny chrome (mine is from Brillbird)
- Eyeshadow applicator
- Fluffy dusting brush
STEP 1: applying colour coats
Apply 2 coats of "Decadent" and one coat of "Burnt Heather" gel polish and cure each coat individually in the lamp. Then apply a non wipe top coat over the color coats and cure for 60 seconds in the lamp.
STEP 2: chrome application
Pick up a small amount of chrome on your eyeshadow applicator and start to rub it into the cured layer of non wipe top coat. Apply firmly but gently. The chrome should apply very smoothly if you have even top coat application. Keep rubbing it in until the entire nail is covered.
STEP 3: dusting
Take a fluffy brush, I picked mine up on Amazon. A fluffy make up brush can work too, just ensure that it is clean. dust away all of the excess chrome. This also helps with not too much chrome getting stuck in your top coat. If you end up scratching the chrome during the dusting process just grab your eyeshadow applicator again and lightly rub over where you have made the error.
STEP 4: top coat
If you have gotten to this stage and the chrome looks "too white" on top of the dark color, don't panic! Once you finish this step the harshness of the chrome should disappear.
TOP TIP:
The key step here is to DOUBLE TOP COAT the design. However you are not going to of 2 layers of a non wipe top coat. You are going to do one layer of base coat on top of the chrome and then cure for 60 seconds. Then do a layer of non wipe top coat and cure for 60 seconds.
This is because if you applied 2 layers of non wipe top coat the first layer would dry shiny rather than sticky and applying shiny on shiny with nails is a NO GO! Whereas the base coats inhibition layer will cure sticky.
THE FINISHED LOOK 💋🤎🌩🍂 the perfect autumn mani
