SIMPLE SNOWFLAKES

It's Christmas TIMEEE! Which means us nail techs are going to be inundated with christmassy nail art requests. If you panic when someone asks for snowflake nail art then this blog post is for you!

I am here to give you a super simple step by step ❆ SNOWFLAKE TUTORIAL

PRODUCTS NEEDED:
  • white art gel or gel polish
  • dotting tool
  • fine liner brush

STEP 1: paint some dots

Using a dotting tool, paint a vertical line of white dots. You can start with one in the centre then paint 2 more upwards and downwards from the central dot.

STEP 2: more dots

Place two white dots at either side of the vertical line of dots so that to makes a cross shape, don't cure the gel yet. If you are using an art gel like me, the dots will hold firm in place. I use Brillbird GO01.

STEP 3: connect the dots!

Take a fine liner brush, the longer the better. I like Brillbird 0 Long and TMC Stripe Liner. Gently stroke the brush through the uncured white dots. Start from the centre and gently drag down. You need to apply very light pressure and let the brush do the work for you.

STEP 4: more connecting

Continue to connect the rest of the dots you have placed to create the cross shop again. If the original dots you placed get a bit messy, that's ok! Just reapply the dot using your dotting tool. At this stage you can cure to lock it all in place so that you don't risk messing up the work you have created so far.

STEP 5: more dots

Place a total of four more dots. One in each corner of your snow flake design. Do not cure these white dots yet!

STEP 6: some final connecting

Lastly, we need to connect these dots to the rest of the design. Start from the centre and drag a line through each dot gently. You can have a small amount of white art gel on your brush when doing this. Tell your client to stay SUPER still when your painting designs like this. It can be tricky! Once you are happy, cure the design if your UV/LED lamp.

STEP 7: apply top coat

Finally, you can top coat the design!
